STOP IT!! All of you, just STOP!!
No, I'm fine, look at me, I'm standing. I can stand. Just calm down, and listen to me.
I get it, okay? I know. I know what's going to happen to me. Don't act so surprised; when your own doctor starts to beat around the bush, you do some research.
I know my condition, I know how little time I have left, so why do you all continue to lie to me? You think I can't hear EVERYTHING you're saying?! My vital organs may not be functioning properly, but my ears are just fine. I know what you call me -- cripple. You say, "It's a shame, poor girl won't live to see her thirteenth birthday". You say you're reduced to tears at the sight of my hopeful smile. Because it's pointless, you say. My life's near over, I've got nothing to smile about.
I'm alive. Right now, as I stand here, I am alive. Haven't you ever thought how lucky we are? How many people can honestly say they're alive right now? A meager seven billion, compared to everyone who's ever existed and is going to exist. And when it doesn't totally suck, i think life is pretty darn awesome. So why shouldn't I smile? Why shouldn't I enjoy life while I can?
And why shouldn't you smile with me?
Short-ish monologue I wrote, hopefully I will be able to use it in Theatre class one day. I took out all the stage directions for easier reading.
Hope you enjoy! :)
